Vintage: NV (Non-Vintage or normally called MV - Multi-Vintage)
Bollinger is one of the few champagne houses that are still independent, family managed since 1829.
Special Cuvée is composed of over 85% Grand and Premier crus grapes.
It is cellar aged for twice as long as required by appellation regulations.
The reason for using the word Special Cuvee, is to highlight that this not a regular Non-Vintage Champagne, but one that is regarded more quality than Non-Vintage Champagne.
Madam Bollinger had a special quote that articulated perfectly as to when to really enjoy Champagne for maximum enjoyment. She said:
"I only drink champagne when I'm happy, and when I'm sad. Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone. When I have company, I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it if I'm not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise I never touch it - unless I am thirsty.”
