Pessac-Leognan, Bordeaux, France

Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon (44%), Merlot (43%) and Cabernet Franc (13%).

Ratings: 4.6 on VIVINO

Chateau Haut-Brion is one of the 5 First Growth Bordeaux wines listed in the 1855 Classification.

This is a wine that is probably the most prestigious wine in the world, only four other wines like Chateau Lafite, Chateau Latour, Chateau Mouton and Chateau Margaux are in this league.

Deep ruby hue with a garnet rim. The nose reveals layers of blackcurrant, cherry, and plum, interwoven with graphite, tobacco, and smoky notes. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity, offering flavors of red and black fruits, cedar, and hints of earth and spice. The finish is refined and persistent, showcasing the wine’s hallmark elegance and complexity.

Pair roasted duck, grilled lamb, or beef tenderloin. Its nuanced flavors also complement earthy dishes like mushroom tart or truffle risotto, and aged cheeses such as Comté or Gruyère.
