In the 18th century, the estate belonged to Marquis Nicolas-Alexandre de Ségur, the "prince of vines", and later the Barons de Brane. Seeking to serve his own premier wine to distinguished guests, Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild acquired Château Brane-Mouton at auction.

Located in Pauillac at the heart of the Médoc, the estate was renamed Château Mouton Rothschild.

Baron Philippe de Rothschild revolutionized winemaking by establishing full château bottling, ensuring complete estate oversight for their top growth, a landmark move celebrated by the construction of the Great Barrel Hall (Grand Chai) in 1926.

Since 1945, a unique artistic legacy has adorned every label, featuring works by masters such as Braque, Dalí, and Picasso.

Today, Camille Sereys de Rothschild, Philippe Sereys de Rothschild, and Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild steward this historic property.

Pauillac holds supreme status in Bordeaux, hosting three of the five Médoc First Growths (Premiers Crus Classés). T

he 2015 vintage label features artwork titled Flux by German artist Gerhard Richter, capturing moving colors in perfect balance to reflect the living art of master blending.
