INDRA'S NOTE: 2012 was a special year for Pomerol. Across much of Bordeaux, growers battled an unpredictable flowering and a wet, difficult season but Pomerol did very well.

Pair with: Beef tenderloin with red wine reduction, Duck Confit, and Reblochon cheese with its creamy, buttery texture.

MORE INFORMATION:

Pomerol, Bordeaux, France

Grape: Merlot 58%, Cabernet Franc 42%.

Ratings: 4.1 on VIVINO

Chateau Nenin is highly regarded in the wine world to be one of best Chateaux to make Merlot based wines.

In the 19th century, Château Clinet was held under the same ownership as the legendary Château Pétrus, by the Arnaud family. It was during this period that Clinet commanded some of the highest prices on Bordeaux's Right Bank, a testament to the calibre the estate was already recognised for.

Today, the estate is guided by Ronan Laborde, who took over stewardship in 2004 and now also serves as President of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux — one of the appellation's most influential voices.
