First planted by Dr. Bailey Carrodus in 1969, Yarra Yering’s iconic Block 1 produces one of Australia's most revered Bordeaux-style blends.
Crafted in the classic tradition of Margaux, this Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blend is complemented by Merlot, Malbec, and Petit Verdot, yielding cool-climate sophistication and exceptional structural balance.
The cool 2020 vintage delivers pristine summer berry fruits alongside cedar, bay leaf, and fragrant violet floral notes.
Cabernet fruit is crushed to build structure, while whole-berry fermented parcels add mid-palate flesh and fragrance.
Aged 15 months in French oak barrels, its fine-grained, velvety tannins and bright natural acidity ensure immediate drinking pleasure while providing a formidable foundation to cellar for over 20 years.
