Vintage: Vintage Champagne aim to showcase the quality of flavors of grapes harvested from the particular year.
This champagne is made in the village called Ay, in the area of Valle de la Marne in Champagne region. Ay is only one of two villages granted Grand Cru status out of the 100 villages here. This champagne house was founded in 1838.
The house uses the classic grapes for this blend, mainly about 2/3 the Pinot Noir and 1/3 Chardonnay, with just a little of Pinot Meunier. Pinot Noir is most important as it provides aromatics, structure which gives mouth-filling. Chardonnay helps in providing the freshness and liveliness. Pinot Meunier does help to provide added complexity.
It has been aged on the lees for 4 years before being released. Rich and toasty that goes fantastic with food pairings.
