This is a Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc made from the vineyard after the ancient glaciation period that formed this exceptional terroir - Otira.
Formed 75,000 years ago, these free-draining soils result in wines with elegant minerality and excellent structure.
Clos Henri winery in New Zealand is established by the well regarded French winery making Sauvignon Blanc in Sancerre in the Loire Valley region known as Henri Bourgeois.
Following the French tradition, the Otira vineyard is planted in high density. This encourages competition between vines and restrains vigour, ensuring grapes divert their energy into the grapes (rather than the canopy) resulting in concentrated berries.
Dry farming practices also also ensures the the grapes have high concentration and richness, because this practice forces the roots to go deeper in the soil, obtaining the purest expression of terroir.
