MACAN is the main flagship wine of the Bodegas, offering greater ageing potential, complexity, and structure.
A luxury, investment-style wine with benefits in cellaring and ageing. Ideal for collectors and connoisseurs. Made in smaller quantities than Macan Clasico.
MACAN CLASICO is often considered the more approachable version to MACAN. Thoughtfully crafted for earlier approachability, vitality, and immediate pleasure—still excellent, but distinct in style and trajectory. Well-suited for early consumption, versatile pairings, and wider appeal.
MACAN is made from 100ha of high-quality Tempranillo vineyards on high terraces with gravelly, calcareous clay soils.
These two wines are the result of prestige partnership between Vega Sicilia—one of Spain’s most revered wineries—and the Benjamin de Rothschild family—renowned Bordeaux winemakers.
This collaboration began with vineyard acquisitions in Rioja from 2004, leading to the first vintage in 2009.
