Sous le Château is one of the Climats of the Saint-Romain vineyard. It is located under the rocky outcrop which served as a Merovingian necropolis in the 4th century.
The vineyard is on steep slope which is beneficial for better ripening.
Climats means that is a specific plot of vines which is recognized historically for its unique terroir characteristics, and usually produce a higher quality grapes, which is why they are usually made into a single climat wines (or you can say single vineyard wines).
Aged in oak barrels for about 8 months.
The 2020 vintage was notable for its high temperatures that helped in ripening, and the significant water deficits resulted in the grapes remaining in excellent health, resulting in wines of remarkable balance.
So in summary, the 2020 vintage delivered elegant, fresh, and mineral-driven wines with excellent precision.
